The Little Star Who Found Her Shine

High above the quiet world, far beyond the tallest mountains and drifting clouds, lived a tiny star named Twila.
Twila was the youngest star in the night sky.
Every evening, when the sky turned dark blue, the stars began to sparkle.
Twinkle!
Shimmer!

But Twila’s light flickered softly.
It was so small that she worried no one could see it.
“I wish I could shine like the big stars,” Twila whispered.
So most nights, she stayed very still and tried not to be noticed.
A Very Dark Night
One night, thick clouds covered the moon.
The sky became darker than usual.
Down below, a small boat floated gently on the ocean.
A young sailor looked up nervously.
“I wish the stars were brighter tonight,” he said softly.
Twila heard him from high above.

Twila took a deep breath and glowed as brightly as she could.
At first, her light was tiny.

“There!” he said happily.
“A star! Now I know which way to go.”
Twila’s light helped guide the boat safely across the water.

When the clouds finally drifted away, the whole sky filled with shining stars again.
Twila sparkled softly among them.
Not the biggest.
Not the brightest.
But shining just the way she was meant to.
